Description: The database World Biographical Index contains short biographical details on people who either lived in, or were influential in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Australasian-Pacific region, and North and South America from the 1500s to the present.

In addition, it indexes a series of Biographical Archives published in microfiche by K. G. Saur of Germany. The Archives reproduce biographical dictionaries and other sources originally published in paper format.

Davis Library Reference holds the Archives for the United States, France, and Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Duke University Library holds many of the other Archives.
